IVF has brought smiles into many home by giving them a hope of having a baby. It has served as a blessing to many, but with rising infertility rates in modern day life… even the cost of IVF treatment is getting expensive. Thus there are many couples who are unable to afford the expenses of IVF; leading to suppressed dreams and abandoned wishes.
Few Government Clinics To Lower Cost of IVF
Infertility treatments are expensive and many of the private clinics charge Rs. 2 to 3 lakhs per cycle. This amount is clearly un-affordable to a middle class couple who are striving hard to survive in this world. And even though the rates of IVF are low in India, as compared to this treatment in Western countries, this cost still ranges in the scale of lakhs. And add to that many additional expenses on medications and tests.
Add to that, only very few government hospitals offer free or subsidised fertility treatments. Like for example, the rates offered in AIIMS are 60,000 and its success rate is 30 to 35 %. And as IVF is not covered by insurance, and with no guarantee of success; many patients find themselves at the crossroads.
“Dr. Neena Malhotra of AIIMS (ART) Centre says that “Often many poor couples sell their assets and land to foot the bill of IVF”.
Costs Of IVF Treatment In India
IVF has proved beneficial to many, but its high cost has made it un-affordable to many others. For such couples, there are IVF Clinics in smaller cities like Nasik, that charge comparatively much lowers. And these clinics are loaded with state of art infrastructure and expert IVF doctors. They can be consulted with, if you are unable to afford the costs of IVF in the many metro cities.
