Late Dr. A. K. Pawar (Appasaheb)
Our mentor, Dr. Appasaheb Pawar, was a surgeon par excellence. He was a social worker to the core, and above all a wonderful human being.
A true son of the soil, born in a family of poor farmers in Kalwan taluka of Nashik, he strived hard on his own merit and earned accolades at the prestigious BJMEDICAL College Pune. He settled his medical practice in Nashik for 50 years but never once did he forget his roots.
Among his many social service projects are the construction of 185 toilets in his hometown Manur. He constructed another 75 toilets at Nirpur, and performed more than 55000 laparoscopic sterilisation surgeries through camps in rural Maharashtra.
Even till his last days he was actively involved in implementing a water supply project in the adivasi area of this district. He shall always be alive in our hearts and his legacy shall continue in our deeds.
